The US solar energy market is booming! More and more energy companies are turning to the Sun for energy. As the world’s fossil fuels wane, we need another source of energy that will fill the needs. Solar isn’t quite there yet, but it’s getting there, and FAST! Photovoltaics projects have grown 7% over the past 12 months. The current solar energy production in the US stands at about 43,000 Megawatts or about enough energy to power 6 million homes. About the equivalent of 43 nuclear power plants.
Solar panels are gaining efficiency and costs are dropping. As more and more energy companies build ever more solar power plants, the cost of production will go down, and that means lower priced solar panels for consumers.
Solar Power: New World Record Set
Boeing Subsidiary Spectrolab has set a new solar energy efficiency world record by creating a solar cell which converts a whopping 38.8% of solar energy into electricity.
As we wean ourselves of our addiction to fossil fuels, solar energy stands strong, and beckons at a future as bright as the Sun.
