Monsanto’s Worst Nightmare

Por: naturalbear

Monsanto’s Worst Nightmare
Proposition 37 is an initiative that will be on the ballot Nov 6, in California and has many different opinions, information, and misinformation surrounding it. There are several different aspects to this proposition that can impact how food is labeled and, more specifically, what foods are impacted by the usage of GMO’s in food. But just what are GMO’s and should there be a concern if any surrounding them? More specifically, what impact will Proposition 37 have on Monsanto?

What Are GMO’s And Proposition 37

GMO is a term used to describe genetically modified organisms. These are products and foods that are created by merging the DNA of plants and other organisms that are not normally merged together. Using gene splicing technologies, animals and plants are created as a way to create a new animal or plant for usage in foods or other technologies. However, there is overwhelming evidence that these GMO products have a negative impact on the health of the consumer that eats them. Many foods are contaminated with GMO’s and Proposition 37 would require a labeling of any food that contains it, as well as restrict companies from using the word “all natural” when it’s really MSG, pesticide ridden GMO. The goal is to provide the consumers with a better understanding of what is located in the foods and what they are putting into their bodies. There is growing research in the industrial world which suggests that there are many health concerns from using these altered foods, from increased food allergies to birth defects to all sorts of digestive disorders and even cancer.

Impact On Monsanto

Monsanto is a company that that gave us things like Aspartame, DDT, Agent Orange and of coarse GMO seeds ready for round up. So it comes as no surprise that they are funding a larger sector of the advertisements and propaganda that have risen in recent Proposition 37 debates urging voters to vote No. This amount of propaganda, and misinformation, has reached into the 30+ million mark. As a result, many are impacted by the bombardment of this movement to protect Monsanto and are being influenced by this clearly biased information, often disguised in the garb of legitimate research, and there’s way to many front groups, organizations, and non-profits to even keep up with. To respond, groups opposed to fight this spread of incorrect data/deliberate disinformation have arisen. Included in this are We The People, Organicconsumers.org and Millions Against Monsanto. The goal of these groups is to continue to counteract the data that is being spread, though admittedly they struggle to spend as much in doing so as Monsanto itself. The effect of We The People and Millions Against Monsanto, however, is being felt, so get ready for a massive dis-info propaganda campaign against prop 37. And whatever you do make sure to spread the word to everyone and VOTE YES ON 37!
On a side note I have received a couple emails from my last article and people are asking me “if all of this is true why hasn’t the government stopped them?” Well instead of getting into a bunch of details i.e. conflict of interest, I’ll leave you with this picture and hopefully it speaks for itself. Also keep in mind that this is just one example of many!
